The GABA Entrepreneurs & Venture Capital group is dedicated to the facilitation of technology, business and social innovation via entrepreneurial ventures and the appropriate incubation and capital funding catalysts. We aim to educate and bring together members of the business, finance, legal, academia, technology lab, not-for-profit and government realms on both sides of the Atlantic as regards new venturing opportunities, issues, trends and developments. In doing so, we hope to spread best practices learnings, as well as inspiration and passion for venturing. Our technology and business "space" focus is primarily aligned with the GABA industry groups (Cleantech, HR, Lifesciences, Media & Entertainment, Semiconductors & IT, Telecommunications), but will always be open to other industries, particularly emerging and heretofore undefined ones.
 
Sample sub-topics include, but are not limited to:
  • Characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.
  • Building and strategically leading high-performance entrepreneurial teams.
  • Components of a success-enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Management of business cycles, scaling issues, responses to new competitive or regulatory threats.

  • Cultural issues: large v. small company paradigms and cross-fertizilation; cross-functional cooperation within a company; fostering and capitalizing on diversity; international hiring, deal-making and marketing.

  • International financial regulations governing new ventures and their expansion.
  • Capital structure, fundraising and cash management.
  • Successful business plans and how to change an unsuccessful one.
  • Incorporation, governance and board management.
  • Product liability, IP and litigation fundamentals for young firms.
  • Business environments and learnings for startups in Asia, LatAm and Europe"
